Yesterday I created another two alts and was glad to see that there are so many players in both League and Empyre starting locations. So I think it’s time for another portion of general tips about the game which I hope will be useful for players who just recently started to explore world of Sarnaut. Let’s start:
1) Levelling. There are fewer levels in AO than in many other MMORPGs – only 40. Which of course doesn’t mean that there is lesser quests and other content. So it’s harder to kill mobs which are higher level than you than in WoW for example. +2 levels mob requires a lot of effort to kill even in good gear. To level faster you should try mobs and quests of your and +1 level. Experience obtained for killing mob is determined by two parametrs: your level and mob level. So if you want to do some grinding always choose the easiest mob of your level (such as wolves, for example).
2) Making gold. There are no quick ways to earn a lot of gold in Allods (pity
). Three most profitable activities are: a) Buying stuff for gPotatoes and selling it for gold. Better buy something cheap and useful, such as keys and that kind of items. Lots of people will want to buy things from you. b) Doing treasure quests everyday. Even if you don’t want to bother with auction and trade channel and sell them to vendor it’ll still bring good profit. c) AH speculations. Don’t try them if you don’t have good understanding of server economy. Comission rates are high and unsuccessful traders will go bankrupt quickly.
3) Levelling professions. It’s a bad idea to level crafting profesions on low levels (1-18) if you don’t have rich friends or lot’s of gPotatoes. Reagents for crafting which must be purchased from profession vendors are expensive. Better save those money for Rubies. And yes, it’s very unlikely that you’ll be able to sell your crafted items for any profit. Developers promised to change it in the future but right now crafting is moneysink. Best time to level crafting is at 25+
4) Picking talents and skill points. Reseting talents and skills is costly. So read all ability descriptions very carefully before picking them. If you are in doubts – find high-level player of your class and ask him questions about your build. Most players in Allods Online are friendly guys who won’t refuse to explain how this or that ability works if you ask nicely. And, of course, try to find as many class guides as you can. Except this site I’d recommend you to look for guides at Novograd Times and RU official forum (if you know Russian, of course)
5) Trading with other players. Don’t sell anything to another player before checking it’s price at Auction House. Expecially Cash Shop items. For example, one of my friends sold Large Incense Kit for 90 gold just after receiving it as a quest reward. He thought it was a good deal (he had only about 5 gold at the moment) before he found out the auction price of the item – 180-200 gold. Be careful!
